Why You Should Put A Spare Tire In Your New Car

In the past, it was often considered to be a given that cars had spare tires in the back. One thing that you might have noticed about new cars, however, is that many of them do not come with spare tires. If you have a new car that does not have a spare tire, it is important to do something about this. These are a few reasons why:

Not All Tires Can Be Repaired

Many of the new cars that do not have spare tires come with air compressors that can be plugged into the car, tire patch kits, and other similar items. In some cases, these items can be quite handy and can help you get back on your way after having a flat tire. However, not all tires can be repaired. If your tire is damaged on the sidewall, for example, you probably will not be able to repair it. Obviously, after a tire blowout or other more serious situation, this will not be an option, either. Therefore, even though you should definitely keep your tire patch kit and air compressor on hand, you should not rely on them for every tire-related situation.

You May Be Able to Get One from Your Dealer

If you are still in the market for a new car, consider talking to your dealer. You might be able to negotiate to have a spare tire and related supplies, such as tire jack, added in with your car purchase. The dealer might even be willing to give you a good deal for this in order to make the sale.

There are Affordable Options at Tire Shops

Even if you aren't able to get a spare tire from your dealer, you do still have options. For example, many tire shops offer affordable spare tires. You will probably find that it's worth the cost to visit a tire shop and purchase one of these tires so that you will have peace of mind.

As you can see, even though it might not really seem like a big deal that your new car did not come with a spare tire, it's really not a situation that you are going to want to ignore. For these reasons and more, it's important to make arrangements to ensure that your car has a spare tire if at all possible. Then, you can help ensure that you will not be left stranded on the side of the road without the spare tire that you need.
